CASUALTY ADVICE – E R KOBE – fire onboard

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel E R KOBE, a Liberia flag, 2001 built, 66,058 gt fully cellular container ship, during a voyage from Port Klang, Malaysia to Hong Kong and China, having also called at Singapore and Vietnam.

E R KOBE suffered a fire on board during her approach into Shanghai on 1st March 2019, following reports of an earlier fire incident causing damage to 15 containers at Hong Kong on 20th February.

It is understood that Salvors have been engaged under Lloyd's Open Form and that General Average has been declared. Albatross Adjusters are appointed to collect GA security, which is expected to incorporate LOF Salvage security.

A fire expert has been retained so that investigations can begin into causation and extent of the fire.
