CSCL JUPITER

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “CSCL JUPITER”, a 2011 built 150,853gt fully cellular container ship. Having previously called at Antwerp, BEL and intending to steam to Hamburg, DEU the vessel ran aground in the River Scheldt.

There is currently no immediate threat to the vessel or cargo and the hull does appear to be intact however, initial refloating operations failed. There are currently eight tugs on scene and a further effort to refloat is scheduled for high tide at 2000(gmt). Considering the size of the vessel, protracted salvage operations are feasible.
