NEW CASUALTY – MAKASSAR HIGHWAY

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “MAKASSAR HIGHWAY”, a 2001 built 17,735gt Vehicle Carrier which ran aground in the Vastervik municipality of Sweden 23rd July 2018 .

It is understood that the Vessel was carrying 1,325 cars from the UK and Germany to Sweden when she ran aground at 14 knots. The Vessel is damaged and cannot be re-floated by her own means and as such Salvors have been appointed with salvage operations likely to last a number of days.
