NEW CASUALTY – WAN HAI 502

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “WAN HAI 502”, a 2005 built 42,532gt Fully Cellular Containership which ran aground at Lat. 01-13.40S., Long. 106-49.69E 30th August 2018.

It is understood that the Vessel was en-route from Jakarta to Singapore with 38,390MT of containerized cargo and that she is engaged on a rotational voyage between China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. As these ports involve significant transshipment operations it is likely that international cargoes will have been affected.

It is understood that Salvors have been appointed on Lloyd’s Open Form of Salvage Agreement 3rd September 2018 and that General Average has been declared.

W E Cox Claims Group are actively involved in the incident and are in contact with both the Salvors Solicitors and General Average Adjusters and once the Vessel is refloated and date and location for potential discharge is known will update our clients further along with demands for Salvage and General Average security once determined.
