Casualty Update - HMM PLATINUM - Fire (LOF and GA)

Further to our initial advice regarding a fire on board the HMM PLATINUM, a Liberia Flag, 52,467GT, 5,593TEU, 2013 built, fully cellular containership, we now note that General Average (GA) has been declared by HMM, Co., Ltd (as the Owners of the HMM PLATINUM) and they have appointed Korhi Average Adjusters & Surveyors Ltd (Korhi) as the Average Adjusters with the collection of GA security to be handled by Korhi and Richards Hogg Lindley.
It is understand that the HMM PLATINUM will likely call at the Port of Ngqura (previously Coega), Nelson Mandela Bay.
Given the above, Cargo interests will need to provide both Salvage Security and GA Security prior to cargo being onshipped and/or released at destination. Further note that uninsured cargo interests will be required to provide cash deposits at an as yet to be determined value. As an alternative for uninsured interests, W E Cox may be able to assist with the issuance of personal guarantee/s, subject to terms and conditions.
