Incident:            Capsize

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MSC ELSA 3 a Liberia flag, 16,799gt, 1997 built, fully cellular containership, which has capsized and developed a 26-degree list approximately 38 nautical miles off the coast of Kochi, India.

The vessel, which has a capacity of 1,730teu and operates on the Kerala Shuttle Service on behalf of MSC and is owned by Elsa 3 Maritime Incorporated is understood to have issued a mayday and requested evacuation of all crew after the capsizing event which has led to a number of containers being lost overboard.

The incident will almost certainly lead to the involvement of professional Salvors as well as a General Average declaration.
