Casualty Update – Yantian Express

Further to our initial casualty notice, bad weather conditions have limited progress in containing the fire in containers onboard “YANTIAN EXPRESS” and the crew has been evacuated to the salvage tug SMIT NICOBAR, which is providing firefighting support.

Indeed, it is confirmed that SMIT have now been contracted under Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF), and consideration is being given to declaration of general average and the appointment of GA Adjusters.

If W E Cox Claims Group can be of any assistance in arranging surveys, appointing fire experts, adjusting potential losses, providing Salvage and/or General Average Security, or undertaking recovery action please do not hesitate to contact us.
