We have learned of an incident involving the vessel G.B. CORRADO a 2008 built 40,154gt Bulk Carrier, which was reported aground in the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas coast between Galveston and Corpus Christi.
The vessel carrying a cargo of Bauxite said to have been loaded in Kamsar, Guinea and bound for Point Comfort, broke anchor and firmly grounded to aft in mud.
Salvage operations have commenced and three tugs are on the scene. No damage is reported or present threat of pollution
The scope and terms of salvage services have yet to be determined, whether security is ultimately required or whether General Average may be declared is unknown. But should insurers determine that they are involved with cargo on board and W.E. Cox Claims Group may be of assistance with provision of securities or in any way, we would be pleased to hear from you.
