GHETTY BOTTIGLIERI / OCTBREEZE ISLAND

We have learned of an incident involving the vessels GHETTY BOTTIGLIERI, a 2002 built 25,063gt Combined Chemical & Oil Tanker and OCTBREEZE ISLAND, a 2011 built 23,264gt Bulk Carrier, which collided at km285 in Parana River.

Upriver and downriver navigation was temporarily interrupted due to fuel leakage Both vessels anchored in vicinity of San Pedro, Argentina following the incident.

GHETTY BOTTIGLIERI was on a voyage from Europe to Argentina, whilst OCTBREEZE ISLAND was in transit between Central and South American ports.

It has yet to be determined if salvage services were provided, or whether the incident gave rise to a General Average act that may warrant security, but should insurers determine that they are involved with cargo on board and W.E.
