New Casualty - BBC GEORGIA - Grounding

Incident Date:    24th of November 2023

Vessel:                BBC GEORGIA

IMO No.             9357224

Type:                   General Cargo

Incident:             Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel BBC GEORGIA, an Antigua and Barbuda flag, 9625 gt, 2008 built, general cargo vessel which reportedly ran aground in St. Lawrence river while sailing from Gibraltar to Montreal. It seems that there was ingress of water and the engine room was flooded. Several tugs have been engaged to refloat the vessel.

The vessel with a capacity of 665TEU is operated by W BOCKSTIEGEL REEDEREI KG and previously called at Vietnam, Singapore and Egypt before sailing to Gibraltar.

As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
