W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the GINGA BOBCAT, a Panama Flag, 16,452GT, 159.98m, 2010 built, chemical tanker, which allided with the HELIOS, a Marshall Islands flag, 11,311GT, 145.15m, 2011 built, combined chemical and oil tanker, whilst it was moored and loading fuel in Campana, Argentina on 5th May 2026.
It is understood that at the time of the collision the GINGA BOBCAT was carrying around 10,300 tonnes of sulfuric acid. The GINGA BOBCAT is under strict surveillance to avoid any environmental impact by the hazardous cargo.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of this allision.
The GINGA BOBCAT is owned by Solt Holding Panama 80 SA, managed by Unix Line Private Limited (Mitsui OSK Lines Limited) and operated by MOL Chemical Tankers Private Limited. She calls at various ports in Europe, Asia and South America.
The HELIOS is owned by Notos Shipping Limited and managed by National Shipping S.A. She calls at various ports in Argentina.
As a result of this casualty, cargo deliveries may be delayed, with possible cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average security prior to cargo being released at destination.
