W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the MSC ANTONIA, a Liberian Flag vessel, 76,486GT, 6,969TEU, fully cellular containership, which ran aground on 10th May 2025 off Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after sailing from Port Said Roads, Egypt.

The MSC ANTONIA is owned by Glory Trend International Holding Limited and is managed by MSC Shipmanagement Limited. She trades in The Americas, UAE, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Spain and Italy.

The MSC ANTONIA was also involved in a casualty in August 2024 when she encountered bad weather in South African waters, leading to a loss of 46 containers and damage to a further 305 containers.

As a result of this recent casualty, cargo deliveries will likely be delayed, with significant cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average Security prior to cargo being released at destination.
