Vessel:                MSC RITA

IMO No.             9289116

Type:                   Fully Cellular Containership

Incident:             Fire

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MSC RITA, a Panama flag, 89954 gt, 2005 built,  fully cellular containership, which experienced fire in the waters of the United Arab Emirates on 6 June after sailing from Dubai the day before. One crew member sustained burns and had to be medevacked to the hospital by a helicopter of the NSRC.

The fully cellular container vessel with a capacity of 8034teu is operated by MSC and had previously called at Jebel Ali. As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
