W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the MSC WOLF II, a Liberia Flag, 18,480GT, 1,740TEU, 2007 built, fully cellular containership, enroute from Gemlik to Aliaga, Turkey in laden condition, which suffered a technical failure in the Canakkale Strait on 7th August 2026.
The MSC WOLF II has been shifted to anchorage at Sevketiye under the supervision of a pilot and we understand that repair works are ongoing.
The MSC WOLF II is owned Leysin Oceanway Limited and managed/operated by MSC. We understand that the MSC WOLF II is trading at ports between MSC’s feeder loops MSCU:BEJAIA and MSCU:TNBS.
As a result of this casualty, cargo deliveries may be delayed, with possible cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average security prior to cargo being released at destination.
