New Casualty - NCS SALTEN - Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel NCL SALTEN, a Cyprus flag, 9990gt, 2002 built,  containership, which ran aground on the 13th of April at the port of Alesund. The vessel was in her laden round voyage from Svelgen (Norway) to Alesund (Norway) and other Norwegian and North European ports.

The vessel was able to free herself from the rocks, however, severe bottom damage was sustained. Average repairs for the safe prosecution of the voyage are required, which are expected to include a removal of the vessel to a yard and a longer repair time.

As a result of this incident, the Registered Owners of the vessel declared General Average and appointed Schlimme & Partner GmbH as Average Adjusters to collect GA securities.
