W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the PHOENIX 15, a Comoros Flag vessel, 4,742GT, 118m, 346TEU, fully cellular containership, which had a crew of 20 members and sank about 20nm off the coast of Salalah, Oman whilst sailing from Jebel Ali, UAE to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

We understand that all crew members have been rescued without injury and that local authorities will likely launch an investigation to confirm the cause of the sinking.

We further understand that the PHOENIX 15 is owned and managed by Nixin Shipping Group Ltd with its ISM Manager as Onda Azul Industrial Plant of Dubai. She traded in China, South Korea, Iran, UAE and Oman.

As a result of this casualty, cargo interests will look to pursue Recovery Claims for their cargo losses.
