New Casualty - TSS PEARL - Fire on board

We have learned that the vessel TSS PEARL, a Panama flag, 23,633gt, 2008 built, fully cellular containership has suffered a significant fire amongst its containers 5th October 2022.

The 2,007teu containership was sailing between Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Aden, Yemen, when a fire erupted as the vessel was some 123nm northwest of the Red Sea Port of Jizan, Saudi Arabia.

It is understood that the fire continues to burn, with significant damage to the superstructure of the Vessel resulting in the crew of 25 abandoning the Vessel. It is likely that significant cargo losses will result from this incident and with professional assistance required it is anticipated that General Average may be declared and that Salvage and/or General Average securities may be required.
