W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the XIN TAI YUAN, a Panama Flag, 39,713GT, 224.88m, 2001 built bulk carrier, which suffered a rudder failure and grounded whilst transiting the Suez Canal, Egypt on 2nd April 2026, whilst enroute from Denmark to Singapore.

It is understood that assistance was provided by four tugboats and the XIN TAI YUAN was refloated in about four hours. The XIN TAI YUAN was then towed to the Great Bitter Lakes for safety inspections.

The XIN TAI YUAN is owned by Qiangsheng (Hong Kong) Shipping Company Limited and managed by Tosco Keymax International Ship Management Company Limited. She calls at various ports in Northern Europe, Russia and Asia.

As a result of this casualty, cargo deliveries may be delayed, with possible cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average security prior to cargo being released at destination.
