New Casualty - ZEAL LUMOS collision with HAIAN OPUS

W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the ZEAL LUMOS, a UK Flag, 149,525GT, 366m, 2021 built fully cellular containership, which came into contact with the vessel HAIAN OPUS, a Panama flag, 18,852GT, 171.90m, 2024 built fully cellular containership, while berthed at Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan.
We understand that four containers fell overboard and that other containers have been damaged.
The ZEAL LUMOS was ordered, by the Port Authority, to return to berth so that an investigation can take place. The Port Authority has also requested the HAIAN OPUS to reinforce the securing of the damaged containers.
As a result of this casualty, cargo deliveries may be delayed, with possible cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average security prior to cargo being released at destination.
