We have learned of an incident involving the vessels ORIENTAL PIONEER, a South Korea flag, 1996 built, 36,604gt bulk carrier, on a voyage from Brazil to Singapore, and ATLANTIC HERO, a Bahamas flag, 2005 built, 38,871gt bulk carrier, currently operating within China and ASEAN Seas.

The vessels collided four nautical miles SW of Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and a bunker tank of ORIENTAL PIONEER was damaged, causing a fuel leak of about 100mt.

Singapore Port Authorities deployed anti-pollution and patrol craft, while both vessels are now at anchor for inspection.
