WAN HAI 307

We have learned of an incident involving a fire onboard the vessel WAN HAI 307, a Singapore flag, 2002 built, 25,836gt fully cellular containership, off the coast of Hong Kong.

Fire broke out in containers loaded in the fore section of the vessel, on a voyage from Kaohsiung Taiwan to Hong Kong. WAN HAI 307 reported the incident to HK authorities, advising that the crew was attempting to extinguish the fire but without success. As the fire became out of control, the vessel anchored west of Lamma island. Salvage ships and tugs are in attendance, trying to get the fire under control. The crew has been evacuated and a firefighting team is onboard the vessel. Some containers on fire or near fire are reported to contain dangerous goods.

It is possible that owners of WAN HAI 307 will declare General Average and, if W.E. Cox Claims Group can be of assistance in providing guarantees, arranging surveys, adjusting potential losses or undertaking recovery please do not hesitate to contact us.
