Type:                   Fully cellular containership

Incident:             Engine Room Fire

We have learned of an incident involving a fire in the engine room of the MSC ELMA, a Madeira flag, 2016 built, 97,805gt fully cellular containership, whilst she was loading and unloading containers at the port of Cristobal in Panama.

 The fire was extinguished by the crew. However, the fire resulted in power outage to the reefer containers and could result in damage to the cargo therein.

 We are already instructed in this matter by other cargo underwriters and should be able to offer certain economies of scale in terms of third-party costs.
