Casualty Update - KYPARISSIA - Fire - General Average Declared

Incident: Fire – General Average Declared
Further to our initial advice regarding a fire during discharge operations on board the KYPARISSIA, a Malta flag, 48,338GT fully cellular containership, we have now been notified that the owners of the KYPARISSIA have declared General Average and have appointed Richards Hogg Lindley as the average adjusters.
We understand that certain deck cargo was discharged at Tanjung Pelepas and that the KYPARISSIA was ordered out to anchorage about 2 days ago.
Please note that cargo will not be released until suitable General Average Security has been provided on behalf of cargo interests.
W.E. Cox have received instructions from certain cargo interests and are actively liaising with the average adjusters to identify those cargoes requiring inspection and to deal with the issuance of General Average security.
