MAERSK KARACHI

WE Cox Claims Group are instructed in relation to cargo, some of which sustained damage as a result of a gantry crane that collapsed into a cargo hold of the vessel MAERSK KARACHI a 1998 built 80,942gt Fully Cellular Containership whilst berthed at Bremerhhaven. Subsequently, during welding operations to assist removal of debris, a fire broke out in the cargo hold and local fire brigades provided services to extinguish the fire by flooding holds 3 and 4.

The vessel is on a voyage from European Ports and bound for Aqaba, Jordan; Jebel Ali, UAE; Jawaharlal Nehru and Mundra, India; Salalah, Oman and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

General Average has been declared as a result of the incident and security is required in order to obtain release of the goods upon discharge.
