Type: Fully cellular containership
Incident: Fire

We have learned of an incident involving a fire on board the vessel MSC KATRINA, a Panama flag, 2012 built, 140,096gt fully cellular containership, in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Port Elizabeth, en route from Tema to Durban having previously called at USA, China and Singapore.

The 12,400 TEU capacity vessel is reported to be under tow through a headwind storm, destination Durban with ETA 16th September, although the caravan is expected need to seek shelter in Port Elizabeth area in the meantime.
