PACIFIC QUARTZ

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel PACIFIC QUARTZ, a Liberia flag, 2011 built, 28,778gt product tanker, on a voyage from Jamnagar Terminal Port, India, to Durban, South Africa.

It is reported that the vessel touched bottom off the North Pier at Durban port. A ballast tank was damaged on the starboard side and began to take in water. The vessel has been ballasted to keep her upright and afloat. SAMSA is investigating the incident but there is no risk of pollution as PACIFIC QUARTZ is a double hull tanker and cargo tanks are reported to be intact. Furthermore, the vessel is advised to be stable and at anchor, and will be taken into port for repairs on 6th October.

We trust that this information is of interest to you and if you are involved with cargo onboard this vessel, we welcome your advice to represent your interest, as well as taking care of any security requirements.
