New Casualty - CAPE XL collision with HUGE KUMANO

W.E. Cox have learned of an incident involving the CAPE XL, a Marshall Islands Flag, 92,752GT, 291.98m, 2011 built, bulk carrier, which collided with the HUGE KUMANO, a Panama flag, 107,450GT, 299.99m, 2020 built, bulk carrier, off Singapore on 20th May 2026.

It is understood that at the time of the collision the CAPE XL, which was en route from Singapore to Qingdao, China and carrying aluminium ore, had completed refuelling and was heading south out of anchorage toward the eastbound channel of the Singapore Strait when she collided with the HUGE KUMANO, which was en route from Brazil carrying iron ore cargo and sailing within the eastbound channel.

It is further understood that both the CAPE XL and HUGE KUMANO remain locked together.

The CAPE XL is owned and managed by Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Company KG. She calls at various ports from West Africa to East Asia.

The HUGE KUMANO is owned by Green Spanker Shipping S.A. and managed by Synergy Ocean Maritime Incorporated. She calls at various ports from South America to East Asia.

As a result of this casualty, cargo deliveries may be delayed, with possible cargo loss and damage. The situation may also give rise to General Average that will require Cargo interests to provide General Average security prior to cargo being released at destination.
